FUTMINNA UPASE: still open, closing 20 September

UPASE applications close September 20, 2026

If you read anywhere, including on this page before today, that FUTMINNA had closed in August, ignore it. The application is open.

Last checked: 9 September 2026

FUTMINNA’s UPASE application for the 2026/2027 session is open and closes on September 20, 2026. We had it down as closed since August, and that was wrong. If you wrote FUTMINNA off on that basis, you still have time.

One thing to be clear about before you start: UPASE isn’t a document check. It includes a test you actually sit, and your score on it combines with your JAMB score into the aggregate FUTMINNA admits on. The two work together, so a strong UTME result won’t carry a weak UPASE performance by itself. With the deadline this close, that’s the difference between applying and preparing.

What you actually need

Applications close
September 20, 2026. Open as of 9 September 2026.
What UPASE involves
An actual test that you sit. It isn’t a review of documents you submitted.
How the score is used
Your Post-UTME score combines with your JAMB score into the final admission aggregate. The aggregate is what FUTMINNA ranks candidates on.
General cutoff
150, and that’s a floor rather than a target. Many departments sit well above it.
Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing
Up to 250 for Medicine, 230 for Pharmacy, 220 for Nursing.
Your department, though
Architecture, Computer Science, Cyber Security Science, Software Engineering, Mechatronics and Civil Engineering all need 200. Biochemistry, Microbiology, Data Science, Information Technology and several SIPET tracks fall between 170 and 200. Don’t assume 150 covers you.
Screening fee
Not stated here. We haven’t confirmed the current figure, and it’s a payment, so ask before you send anything.

Sitting near the cutoff for your course?

150 is the general floor, not what most competitive departments actually take. Medicine at up to 250, Pharmacy at 230 and Nursing at 220 are the obvious ones, but they aren’t the only departments well above the floor: a good deal of engineering and computing sits at 200, and a spread of science courses lands between 170 and 200. A score that clears 150 comfortably can still be short for the course you actually want.

And because the two scores combine, clearing your department’s figure doesn’t settle your position either. Don’t guess at yours. Message us with your course and your score and we’ll tell you the number that actually applies to you before you pay.

Don’t pay a fee we haven’t confirmed

We’re not printing a screening fee for FUTMINNA, because we haven’t verified the current one. With eleven days left, that’s the point at which somebody confident and wrong can cost you money. Ask us and we’ll confirm the amount before you send anything.

One honest caveat

This page said the opposite of what it says now, until 9 September 2026. We had FUTMINNA closed since August and the university’s own portal says otherwise, so we corrected it. We’d rather tell you that than quietly change the date and hope nobody noticed. Everything else here was checked on the same day, and if any of it doesn’t match what you’re seeing, tell us and we’ll confirm which is current.

Where people actually get this wrong

The expensive assumption at FUTMINNA is that screening is paperwork. Candidates who believe that walk into a test they haven’t prepared for, and some who cleared the cutoff comfortably still finish with an aggregate that doesn’t rank. The other one is reading 150 as the number that matters, when the department you picked may sit at 170, or 200, or higher. With the window closing on 20 September, there isn’t room to discover either of those late.

Message us if you’d written FUTMINNA off

If you saw an August closing date, here or anywhere else, and moved on, this is the page to act on. The application is open until 20 September and there’s a test to prepare for as well as a form to complete. Tell us your score and your course and we’ll tell you whether it’s worth it. If you want us to handle the application, that’s Post-UTME / School Application Assistance, ₦3,500 plus the university’s own fee.

We reply 8am to 8pm, every day.
